For a boss themed music video the first two are pretty mellow and do not
necessarily reflect villains who get their rocks off committing mass
genocide. Everything after Romancing SaGa is more like it. K. Rool is weak
villian for a weak game with weak plots but if I was on a boat I'd be
thrashing the plank to this cool pirate tune. The Banjo Kazooie witch had a
sweet theme remake but the audio quality sounded pretty low and I had to
turn up my speakers to get the full metal effect. I loved Kirby and Metroid
because they're my favorite Nintendo series even over Mario. Thrashing the
Plank is my favorite but Ninja Turtles 3 and 4 is my second favorite and
the music video was brilliantly made with all of the hits punches and
burning feet being synched to the skips and blips of the remix.
You've earned my bookmark and a couple of email a friends. XD

At 26.05 you say that Samus gets Motherbrain's powers but that's not
entirely accurate. What happens in Super Metroid is that Samus finds a
hatchling hatchling Metroid and basically becomes a mother to it.
Motherbrain mutates the Metroid but it still considers Samus as its mother.
When Samus is being attacked by Motherbrain the Metroid rushes to defend
its mother Samus and Motherbrain kills it, and it pisses off Samus and she
finds the inner strength to defeat Motherbrain. I just thought I would
clear that up a little.

My bad! From watching the final boss battle when making the video, it
appeared to me like the baby Metroid siphoned the death ray from
Motherbrain and put it into Samus when it was protecting her, but thank you
very much for clearing that up! I appreciate it when people run me through
factchecks :P.

CONTINUED FROM GAMEJAMS EPISODE 19-1
But coming up next, we take tribute to another famous Square boss from the video game Chrono Trigger, Lavos, a giant monster that embeds itself in the earth’s core and plans to feast on the planet’s lifeforce. The aim of the video game is to destroy Lavos before it causes Judgment Day and eradicates everything, but doing so is no easy task! Before it fights you, it simulates other bosses that you encountered earlier in the video game , and this sucker comes in three different forms when the shit hits the fan! Lavos also comes back to haunt players dreams in the sequel Chrono Cross, but known as the Devourer of Time after assimilating another character, Schala, into its being in the shadows beyond time. So now, without further ado, here’s "The Final Battle," a tribute to Lavos that was recorded by PLBenjaminZ!
Chrono Trigger - "The Final Battle" video game boss music remix by PLBenjaminZ
Romancing SaGa 3 - "Romancing the Bossa" video game boss music remix by Bladiator
What we just heard was a selection from the video game Romancing SaGa 3 called "Romancing the Bossa", remixed by Bladiator! While the story isn’t that developed, in my opinion, there are still some big bads to be honored, and this time it’s the four Devil Kings of the Elements, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. See, every 500 years there is an eclipse that wipes out all newborn life except for one, and the survivor either grows up to be a Devil King or Holy King. the video game takes place ten years after the last eclipse, and you are tasked to seal the Abyss Gates that allow the Devil Kings to send their monsters into our world and try to take it for themselves, so this smooth remix may not be super badass, but it doesn’t need to be. It honors the Devil Kings well! But coming up next, we’re revisiting a tribute to one croc with a really buggy eye, King K. Rool. Imagine this: you’re a gorilla, and a bunch of crocodiles have stolen your banana hoard for no good reason! What do you do? You traverse the land to arrive at the pirate ship where you fight their leader, King K. Rool, to get it back! Okay, so his motives aren’t as evil as other bosses on this list, but in subsequent games, this pissed reptile kidnaps Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong as part of his revenge! At one point, he even threatens to destroy DK Isle and its hair inhabitants with a giant laser! Now that’s evil! So to celebrate this cantankerous, scaly scallywag, we have the remix "Thrash the Plank," a tune that was created by Snappleman!
Donkey Kong Country - "Thrash the Plank" video game boss music remix by Snappleman
Banjo-Kazooie - "Gruntilda’s Lair (Rock Cover)" video game boss music remix by The Red Wings
This baddie is random, I must admit, Gruntilda is a fat, ugly, pure evil witch. She makes it her mission to kidnap a young bear, to steal her youth and become skinny and fair. In the video game Banjo-Kazooie, she rhymes and she rhymes, in fact that is how she talks all the time. What the fat hag didn’t count on was for the bear’s brother, Banjo, to come with his friend to come kick her ass, yo!... that’s enough rhyming. Gruntilda is a very memorable boss from my childhood because not only is she despicable and truly unlikable, but she is also hilarious to listen to! At one point in the video game , she says "My belly’s big, it’s pretty neat, it’s been years since I’ve seen my feet!" Her rhymes are nonsensical at times, but if you haven’t played Banjo-Kazooie, then you’re really missing out on both a fantastic good time, and one of the most interesting bosses in gaming! The remix we just heard was "Gruntilda’s Lair (Rock Cover," a new song by the band The Red Wings! But coming up next, we have a remix of one of the more popular themes from the Kirby franchise, "Meta Knight’s Revenge," belonging to what I imagine would be the Antonio Banderas of Kirby Superstar… if he was evil. Meta Knight, in an act of an unexplained revenge, decides that he wants to take over Dream Land with his deadly airship and crew of killer robots! Introduced in Kirby’s Dreamland, he has since become a fan favorite out of all of the villains in the pink puffball’s rogue gallery! What makes him so cool? Maybe it’s his knight-like honor, his cool mask, or his deadly swordsmanship. The answer is up to you! So now, to turn the power up to 11, here’s "Meta Knight’s Revenge", a remix from Kirby Superstar that was created by iR2-X!
Kirby Superstar - "Meta Knight’s Revenge" video game boss music remix by iR2-X
Super Metroid - "Diesalbrainage" video game boss music remix by Mazedude
You know what? I think that remix just captured the mindset that gamers were thrown in when they fought Mother Brain in Super Metroid. They reach what they think is a rehash of the final boss from the first Metroid, they kill it and think that the video game is over, and then BOOM. A gigantic, slobbering, freakish monstrosity rises from the ground, and the true, chaotic battle begins. When all hope seems to be lost and Mother Brain looks like she is about to kick Samus in the face, the tides turn and the day is won when the bounty hunter is imbued with Mother Brain’s power! This was a very epic and very climactic battle in one of gaming’s true classics, and Mother Brain, for being one of gaming’s oldest Big Bads in the NES era, deserves such a tremendous finale! The remix we just listened to was "Diesalbrainage", a remix from Super Metroid that was created by Mazedude! But now, we’re closing in on the final song of the night, but before we get to that, we have a public service announcement. Listen up kids, this stuff’s important! This has been the special One Year Anniversary celebration of GameJams, the video game remix podcast from CheshireCatStudios.com, and the June Is Boss Month Special! Want to make a request? It’s easy! Just leave a comment below, or send your remix to the GameJams request thread in the CCS forums! So now, to close us out, we have the remix "Enter The Shredder," a chaotic and awesome rendition of the final battle theme from Turtles In Time! Shredder from TMNT has always been one of my favorite characters as a kid, and not because he was voiced by Uncle Phil. He was, in my eyes, a really badass ninja, so when I found out that there was a SUPER Shredder, I couldn’t believe my ears! Then I saw him in Turtles in Time, and I had a super fangasm! I actually found this remix several weeks ago when I intended to use it for Episode 18, and I fell in love with it at the very get-go! From the shredding guitars to the chaotic electronic skips, I would say that it is a very fitting end to our Boss Month Special! So to play us out, here’s Enter the Shredder, by Danimal Cannon!
