OCRemix's 30th album, "Badass," hits the internet with badass remixes of boss themes!
Video game remix website OCRemix.org has been around for a very long time (since 2001), providing the internet with some great content that has infectiously hotglued itself to the brains of thousands of internet goers for years. They have been creating albums chock-full of only the best remixes for quite some time now, and about a week ago (the 6th of December), they released their 30th album: "BadAss: Boss Themes!"
BadAss included a variety of boss themes from a video variety of games, featuring fan-favorites like Super Metroid, Kirby's Dreamland, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, Final Fantasy 7, and Suikoden II! I've had a chance to sit down and listen to the album for myself, and while I can very easily recommend it, a good half of the songs are metal. Don't fear, however, as you have a total of 18 tracks to choose from, so it really has something for everybody!
So where can you find this new album so you can rock with the baddies? Right here! It is available as a free-download torrent, so you can get the music as soon as you want free of charge! (In fact, you can get all of OCRemix's albums like this, as all of them are absolutely free).
Some of the album highlights include:
"Duel of the Apes" - Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong) - Big Giant Circles: For a remix from Donkey Kong, of all places, Big Giant Circles sure knew how to give the King of Apes a menacing aura that hasn't perhaps been felt since his original stint on the NES (or the Gameboy port/sequel). This tune has a really chill pace that made me bop my head the entire time. However, the real icing on the cake had to be the epic choir that kicks in near the end, as it adds another layer of badassery to the whole arrangement!
"BadAzz" - Final Fantasy 7 (Sephiroth) - PrototypeRaptor: While you may be used to hearing orchestral or metal renditions of the iconic Sephiroth theme, leave it to none other than Prototype Raptor (who we featured in numerous episodes of GameJams, such as episodes GameJams Episode 22 or GameJams Episode 4 to transform Sephiroth's deadly anthem into an electronic dance number with a Daft Punkish vibe - don't worry, though, this remix is worth the change in genre!
"The Shredder" - TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (The Shredder) - Sixto Sounds: This is a huge treat for those who love to jam out, and who love that purple-wearing goofball ninja from The Ninja Turtles. Brought to you by guitar god/robot Sixto Sounds, this adrenaline-pumping rendition of the final boss theme from Turtles in Time is on par with the excellent remix of the same theme we featured in Episode 19 of GameJams, "Enter The Shredder" - if you want to hear some really badass shredding (pun intended), check this one out!
Of course, if I kept going, I would probably say every song in the album is a highlight, so I really recommend that you guys just download it and give it a listen! I know you'll be really happy with this one!
Download "BadAss" today, you won't regret it!
(Also, for those who are wondering when the next GameJams episode will be released, a holiday special, interview episode, and special guest episode are all coming down the pipeline, so the hiatus is soon over!)
