The Joker – Pencil Sketch
I’ve still got it. Created 01/26/09.
Here is a pencil drawing I did of Heath Ledger’s ‘The Joker’ from The Dark Knight. I’m a huge Joker fan, and Heath Ledger’s final performance was one of the greatest portrayals of madness I’ve ever seen.
This was something I have wanted to attempt for a while. It’s been a while since I’ve attempted something so complex as this, so it was a good warmup to ‘get back into the groove’. It was a quickie, only about two hours on a plain sheet of paper and a No 2 lead pencil. Nothing really fancy at all like ‘artist pencils’ and stuff. The inspiration for this Joker drawing was pure boredom on a Saturday afternoon, then I downloaded a wallpaper of the Joker for my desktop PC and then started drawing.
Enjoy and feel free to comment on the drawing!

It only does it look like the Joker, it actually looks like Heath Ledger (I realize he played the Joker, but still), which is even more impressive. Oddly enough (for me, not your drawing), I was drawn–pardon the pun–to the nose. It’s exceptionally good. I think it was my mother that said no one can ever draw noses. Also the eyes are quite good, and those are extremely hard to get right (probably because they’re the most human?). Keep drawing.
Sorry about all the parentheses; I must be feeling parenthetical.
Hey man I realy liked the pictue because I take them and draw them as well I would realy like to get your opion on my picture of what I drew from yours. Dude you are realy good at all of it and if you don’t mind I would like to draw some more picture that you have of the joker or others as good as the joker so drop me a line at EvilKiwi1987@yahoo.com
Whoa…… awesome job. Seriously. His expression is great. Almost *slightly* unmasked.
Excellent.
I really liked your blog!
omgg its a great job am going to try draw ittt
its good, the hair is the best part.
Great drawing of the joker! i like how it has a real sketchy look instead of looking really smooth like some other pencil drawings i see on DeviantArt. It kind of has a crazy feeling to it but also sort of a sympathetic look in Ledger’s face. Deep
A few of the pictures are not displaying properly but, the website still looks good. I’ve been coming to this site for a couple of months now and i’m very impressed with the content. What is the RSS address?
Thanks for visiting the site Maghann. I checked the Pictures section and corrected a few images that I noticed were not working, but normally a refresh fixes them. The RSS feeds are as follows:

Wow, you’re soo talented, May I ask, How in the world did you do this…Do you have to be born with this kind of talent…or can anyone learn to draw like this if you just practice practice and practice…?
Thank you Sophie!
I’d say that for everybody it’s “a little of one and a lot of the other”. But for me, personally, I think it’s mostly natural talent because I rarely sit down to actually ‘practice’ drawing. I’ve done it from since I was a small child, so I think it’s a gift of some degree.
God this is truely amazing I just finished watching the movie again and the resemblince between your picture is just amazing you have a great talent in art.
