is ghost in shell 2.0 different from just Ghost in a shell? but then again I dont watch anime and dont know what the hell Im talking about.

I am looking forward to that review though. I have a fellow IT guy that has this series and says I should look it up.

Ghost in the Shell 2.0 is -from what Amazon said- a reworking of the original Ghost in the Shell movie. The voice acting is redone (sort of), the animation is the same, and a lot of the scenes are updated with computer effects like George Lucas did with Star Wars.

I am skeptical of some of these changes because the original is a landmark in handdrawn animation and I think that some of the voice recasting and the use of computer graphics will be unwelcome.

If you have a Bluray player you get both the Ghost in the Shell 2.0 + the original version in HD on the same disk. I want to see it in HD but I need a Bluray player It may be time to buy a Playstation 3 Slim.

Everything is great about Ghost in the Shell movies and the 2 seasons of anime shows. I would watch the first movie though, and then follow it up with the Stand Alone Complex series.

Anyone remember when being "the next George Lucas" was a good thing?
Me neither, but still, adding CGI to movies that clearly DO NOT NEED IT is total bullshit. It would be like taking the 1930's King Kong and adding CGI directly into the movie because the claymation was outdated. It's almost sacrilege and a bastardization.

I have a ps3, an hdtv, and I actually thought that the concept of the first Ghost in the Shell was pretty deep, but any movie that says "new CGI scenes" gets an automatic BOYCOTT from me. Gimme a remastered, restored version of the original and I may consider rewatching it on blu-ray.
