As a trained news editor I am tempted to say that you should totally do it, but as a member of the internet, I do have to agree with AlphawolfX. Really the only news CCS would get would be farmed from other blogs and news sites unless CCS started getting an expense account for conventions, game and film press releases and the like. Unless members are willing to go to the conventions or whatnot and report on their findings (and the quality may be pretty low to be honest) then it's not likely that we'd get the scoop needed to launch us into "First Read" territory. Hell, my first read is almost always FARK when I'm looking for news, then IGN, Geekologie (network), IheartChaos, and Gizmodo. Yeah, rewriting the stories is easy, but is it worth it? Ad Revenue might make it happen, but see how much revenue you generate at CCS proper before trying to spin off into another site like BlisteredThumbs did. I don't know how well they're doing, but they have lots of "content." Gotta feed the monkey before he'll make a poop.

I feel sad saying it too... I love news.

While I agree in some respects, it hasn't stopped other sites from getting huge traffic and making some money... Just sayin'

All as much as you know Im all about bringing more to and supporting the site I know any "news" ive brought to the attention of you guys was thru another article i had seen somewhere else ya know? I'm just not sure if the site is .. I dont wanna say ready but maybe connected is a better word, well enough to have news?!

I've got training in news writing, and it's not just how well connected you are. Most of the stuff you see on your nightly news is actually just stolen and rewritten to represent the anchor or views of the station. Some is just going and asking around. I'm going to AnimeSTL this year, and i am going to volunteer there as well, so maybe I can get some Anime news for ya'll! Being "connected" isn't as much as "having the gall to ask questions." Most people don't know you aren't connected, and if you look the part, you must be it.
