News, Articles, Top 10s, First Impressions, Flashbacks

We've all of a sudden developed a new interest at Cheshire Cat Studios to break away from writing strictly reviews.

I've been approached by a few writers who have asked about posting news about the entertainment industry, as well as writing Top 10 lists, and even full, original articles exclusive to CCS.

In addition, because writing 20-page long reviews takes a lot out of a guy, I have been wanting a First Impressions section and a sort of 'Flash Back' section to allow others and myself to write brief reviews on game demos, old games, old movies, etc.

The writing requirements will be much more lax for those who want to write Top 10 lists, Flash Backs, First Impressions, and even entertainment news regurgitations. However, full reviews, and full articles will still retain our higher requirements for writing.

Here's a more detailed list of our upcoming attractions and what we're looking for:

- NEWS: If anything's going down in movies, games, or whatever, you can rewrite an existing article (do not plagiarize, always credit your source) and even offer your own opinion on it.

- TOP 10s: Top 10's on anything you feel like writing. You can make them serious like IGN or the other big-names, or you could make a ridiculous Top list such as those you read on Cracked.

- FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Did you play a demo or watch a movie trailer? Now you can rant or rave about your first impression and how you think that the full product will turn out. A great example is Zimes's World Shift Demo impression: http://www.cheshirecatstudios.com/reviews/worldshift/

- FLASHBACKS (TITLE PENDING): A new addition that constitutes a mini-review of an older subject (game, movie, book, anime, whatever) and why it succeeded or failed and how you remember it.

- ARTICLES: We have some up and coming article writers who want to, for example, give their impressions on the current game industry as a whole. This is the place for writers who want to write magazine-like articles about a broad topic about any aspect of the entertainment industry. Articles will only be posted if they meet CCS writing requirements, just like full Reviews.

That's great news, LaughingMan!

Quite frankly, I myself was meaning to ask if the site would feature some additional features like articles, which, truth be told, I am as eager to write as full legitimate reviews, if not more.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's interested in this sort of thing, 'cos if the site would enable me to have my own sort of quasi-column where I could write, say, articles and/or analysis of the current state of the film industry, this is going to be the best outlet for a young enthusiastic critic on the Net!

That's the goal!!

I think that this is a smooth move to really grow this as a community-created site. How are you going to keep asshats like fishboy out of it?

This is great, wonderful, stupendous and any other adjective you wanna put in there. Maybe with these around Ill actually be able to write more and get that damm practice in I know I need.

It is a great way to promote more involvement for members.

The series is dedicated to analyzing and eviscerating tasteless low-budged B-grade knock-offs of more popular and expensive Hollywood flicks - Mockbusters. CineMax is an amateur, yet aspiring movie critic, who makes comedic video reviews, writes insightful and analytical articles, and, occasionally just blabbers about stuff he deems important.

I'm also entertaining the idea of having my own column and breaking out of a routine of reviewing things.

Some pissed off articles would be cool but why in the hell would you guys need to waste your time copy and pasting the news? That sounds really fucking boring and a waste of every body's time.

And all of the discussions brought about by the new Mortal Kombat videos is a waste of time?

Okay you got me there but don't be copy and pasting crap from other sites. I come here for original stuff and a few quick laughs not a weather report.
