I guess today is a good day to start critiques of all of this fresh new content!

I am about half way through your video and here are some minor suggestions if you would like them.

Firstly the big cheshire cat logo is cut off so maybe i would try something else? How about some really good Mega man or Final Fantasy 9 videos or screenshots or maybe just the art? Hopefully there can be something more appealing to the eye than the big logo.

Secondly the music selection is amazing so far but perhaps I would wrap up your game introductions a little more quickly by skipping over some of the more personal game experiences because if I were to tell people that I beat Final Fantasy 9 in 30 hours it is irrelevant to the music. I would instead focus on playing the music and just giving some really bare information about the game, the name of the remix and the remixer and after the song has played just talk about your thoughts on each track and how the remix excelled over the original track.

Thirdly you sounded either nervous or out of breath in your transitions. Perhaps you were in a hurry to get this video done? I would slow down a little, play it cooler and smoother and don't try to sound like Wolfman Jack. I would turn on your favorite non political radio show and listen to how a rock DJ's voice sound.

I did notice that you also over use a lot of the following between each track
we're back
this is game jams
and here we have
this is your DJ Kenny Farino
hey boys and girls

Ideally I would personally have conducted a radio show as such:

Starting out I would play a 10 second title card clip and then jump directly into the first track to get the audience hooked and wanting to hear what else you have in store for them.

After the first song I would then conduct an opening similar to what you already say. Good evening everybody, this is your DJ Kenny Farino bringing you the <insert date> edition of Game Jams. Tonight we have remixes of <some of the major games you will cover> and a lot more so dont touch that mouse <breaking the 4th wall a little but it also implants a subliminal suggestion to the listener to NOT turn off the video>. First on our list is <game, remix name, remixer>. End on that note.

I would follow a format where you introduce a song. You then play the song. You then immediately play a second song. And then you give the credits for that second song and then introduce the third. And then play the third and fourth back to back. And so on.

Song <-info info-> Song Song <-info info-> Song

It is a little bit of a rough start but I think this could be something worth subscribing to if given a little more polish.

Hahaha. I like giving props to our (as in COLLECTIVE of MEMBERS) website but I think this was a bit too overboard ;) If you want a better logo let me know but having that hang on the main window for the whole episode is a bit much.

I noticed, and I agree. If think if he slowed down and had more fun with it like in his Demon Day's podcast it'd be more compelling. Relax man, have some fun.

Agreed. I'm not an expert on radio shows but it would probably have a more natural and easy flow. Right now it's like INTRO1 SONG1 INTRO1 INTRO2 SONG2 INTRO2 and it's a little redundant. Plus the commentary was a little redundant in a few places.

DEAD WRONG!

The reason I ever listen to the radio when driving at night instead of just popping in a CD is because some radio hosts have a lot of talent. They play a song and then make interesting/funny comments about that song and it's fun to listen to. In Kenny's first run he is doing basically what you're telling him to do, and it really makes the show almost 'robotic' for lack of a better word.

I would have been a little snarky (I love that word) in a radio show and done the following: "And that was the Silent Hill remix by bleh. Now I don't know about you guys but I've never finished a Silent Hill game. No, I'm 100% serious. When a 12 hour game makes you spend your whole monthly food budget on clean underwear, you kinda get discouraged. Nah, but seriously, the games are classic survival horror that spawned EIGHT sequels and ONE shitty movie. Well, no... the first half of the movie wasn't shitty, but the last half was... So the movie was half-assed? .... Whatever.... Speaking of shit slinging, here's a popular remix by bleh2 on the Donkey Kong Country game for the Super Nintendo. Anybody else old enough to remember this game? While it was a huge fan pleaser, Miyamoto, the Second Coming of Christ to Nintendo Nerds everywhere was ACTUALLY NOT IMPRESSED WITH IT. He says, quote: "It just goes to show that people will buy anything unimaginative if it has pretty graphics." Ouch. Well apparently Miyamoto is deaf because he missed this kick ass tune"

Agreed. Good finds, but the narration needs some polishing up before I give my seal of approval. ;) I suggested to Kenny a while ago that game videos set to the music (ala the Demon Days Retrospective) would make this way more awesome, but rotating images would be just as good.

Is there any way to control the pitch of your voice? Im not deliberately trying to be an ass but your voice spikes like a teenager going through puberty.

The idea just does not sound right to me Ken. If I want to listen to a radio station I would and it would be live. Along with some of the corrections needed above (song - song -info - Intro - song - song - repeat), I would change it to a top 10 for the week radio show. This could be done to have people come here and vote for their pics for next week. While doing the intro into the the song I would do some fan pics of the song (mega man pics for mega man songs and so on).

both Dave and LM are right. when listening to a radio station for music people want to hear music the most but, the DJ must be entertaining enough to keep the audience.

It was an decent first run Kenny. If this show does get better and better as you go then the end result will be something great.

Yeah it was a good dry-run but I know that with some constructive feedback *like above* we can take this show to a whole new level.

Yeah, I can control the voice :p. I'm just really weird where my voice still cracks from time to time. And yeah, this was by no means a finished product, I wanted to dip my toes in the water and see what I am doing right!
