Twitter

I have been debating lately about getting myself a twitter. Minus putting up a poll on my site. I'm trying to understand what the pros of myself having a twitter would be. Why is it popular? Do the pros outway the cons? Would any of you crazies follow me? lol

Anyone here have one? Is it worth it?

I think you're asking the wrong people. We just got a Twitter account for CCS.com and we have no idea what to even do with it...

Why is it popular? It's a fad, a flavor of the month.
What are the pros and cons? Dunno, maybe lets stalkers know what you're always doing, and it annoys the fuck out of everyone else.
We'd gladly swap Twitters (????) where you follow us and we follow you. You know, 'This for that' and 'Twit for twat'. LOL.

I'm a twitter n00b myself (@trinmiller) but so far I've found it to be an ingenious time suck. If not for twitter, I might never have learned that a local comics shop was throwing a Buffy birthday party or that a group in Seattle is renting out a theatre and marathoning Firefly. (Yeah. I'm a Whedonite.) So you find out about awesome stuff - like a new webseries called "Last Man(s) on Earth" http://youtu.be/4U_ikmzD42s (gratuitous explosions! funny things!)

Also, I think it can be a damn effective marketing and networking tool if used properly (still figuring that part out). To me it's more impersonal than something like fb and thus easier to build connections without having to know someone or the organization first. I've definitely connected with people and organizations I might never have encountered otherwise and I know I've got some eyes on Do Gooders that same way.

It still kinda feels like sometimes you're yelling into a deep pit and not even getting an echo though. As one tweet I saw put it, "Before twitter did you write your movie critiques on post-its and throw them out the window?"

Star, I'd follow ya! And "twit for twat" totally made me snort.

I'm a noob to. I still use MySpace. Hahaha.

Personally I never cared for the whole "sub for sub" or in this case "tweet for twat" lol

Follow/ Subscribe to someone because you WANT to not just because they did it to you. I dont subscribe to anyone on youtube unless i enjoy what they are putting out there, minus subing to friends lol

And I consider you all on here my friends but i also enjoy what CCS dose and offers the internet community and I couldnt be happier that is expanding and gettin some damm recognition lol

But I am in the dark ages and I don't Tweet or text. As a matter of fact my friends do it and I think it is annoying to others and an addiction to themselves.

Ok I couldnt find what I wanted but he just really made fun of it telling about different type of people and how they tweet like they just saw a bird.

And I have even made fun of twitter. And felt Im not "popular" enough to bother having one. My life is to dull to have one. lol But lately I've been thinkin of getting one for small announcements, polls, and of course announcements of new podcast episodes and what not, so it would be about 50/50 professional and personal.

But obviously I'm not sure so I just wanted to do what I always do when I'm unsure of something, get my friends opinions on the matter and go from there.
