Let's make a list of a total of 50 movies that every one should see before they die. The rules are that you can only post one movie at a time and you cannot post more than once in a row and the movie you post has to be almost life changing or a great movie all around. People can vote to remove a movie and if the majority votes it off in replies then it has to be removed from this thread. You must also post an image of a poster or video cover with the name of the movie and write a little bit about why it should be watched by everyone at least once.

HEY!! NICE IDEA!! With everyone who visits this forum having different movie tastes we could probably make a really eclectic list of the best of everything (horror, anime, animation, etc)
My first movie would be Apocalypse Now because it is not only a visually awesome movie but the acting is top notch and you can really get a sense of the madness of the Vietnam War. And in the end, the insane Kurtz is no more insane than every thing else you see along the ride. It is a deep and haunting movie that really is one of the best movies of all time.

Thanks amigo. Pans Labyrinth or El Laberinto Del Fauno is the best adult fantasy story I have ever seen. It is a dark fantasy story that is very good to watch. The characters are strong like the adoptive military father who is a lot like the big bad wolf and the girl is like little red riding hood. The Faun is really cool looking and you do not know if he is good or bad. You must watch this film.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Though it's not my #1 movie of all-time, this is the first one that comes to mind when I think of movie magic and why I love cinema so much. Steven Spielberg is able to mount some wonderful action sequences, but they're wonderful not because of the stunt-work and the special effects, but rather because of how likeable and fun the characters are. Indiana Jones is the sort of classic character you just want to hang out with, his razer-sharp wit and general every-man quality being apart of that. And while he's a combination of James Bond and classic Saturday heroes, in a way, if it weren't for Jones, we wouldn't have gotten John McClane or Jack Sparrow or Lara Croft or a bunch of other iconic action heroes. Lawrence Kasdan's screenplay is also filled with great one-liners that actually evolve the characters, while making us laugh at the same time. And need I mention, Williams' brilliant score:
And as fun as the other Indiana Jones adventures, I don't think they've quite matched the spirit of Raiders. For me, this is the movie for those who love movies.

This is a very interesting idea VitaminM. If I had to pick an anime film to be Spirited Away directed by anime legend Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away is a magical adventurous fantasy with trains, bright lights, factories, good and evil, and a lesson or two about life mixed in. When you watch it you go though almost every emotion you can feel during a movie because of the fantastic and diverse characters and the fun story line that will keep you interested the whole two hours. Spirited Away may not be Hayao Miyazaki's best work but it is my favorite because it is a great family film.

You know what I suggest? Many argue that this is the greatest horror film ever made, and I can't argue with that, being the horror guru of this site! I watched it recently, and I didn't remember how darkly humorous, and how sad and touching, it could also be at times. It made me BAWWWW many times, but it also kicks alot of ass! What movie?
The Bride of Frankenstein!

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

One of the greatest western epics of all time, and "yes, I come from a John Wayne worshipping family".
Italian director Sergio Leone finishes off his Fistfull of Dollars trilogy with a bang in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly starring Client Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach in the respective rolls.
The thing that is so captivating about this movie is the visual style of the director because, up until the rise of the 'Spaghetti Westerns', American westerns were the typical 'white hat, bandannas, and a guitar' cowboy stereotype, where as director Sergio Leone was trying to be as authentic as possible by using unconventional clothing, locations, and even gun holster styles (Eli Wallach's gun hanging by a leather lace). It was not only a new view of the American West, but a captivating and vividly realistic one. The characters are also flushed out to make each one start off as an almost legendary stereotype, and ending by becoming as human and complex as your or I.
The scenes in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly are examples of directing at their finest, and the two that gave me chills were Tuco's (Wallach's) maddening search for gold in the graveyard, and the final three-way duel between Tuco, Blonde (Eastwood) and Angel-Eyes (Van Cleef).
For being a western filmed by an Italian director in Italy with Italian extras that were dubbed over in English, Leone's vision of the west is an epic one that will change your perceptions of 'the Hollywood western' and 'the west' in general.

Star Wars is a great film that developed a cult following and saved the Science Fiction genre from obscurity. It has a good story that borrows classical story elements and makes a perfect movie.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest
Man, the lobotomy scene kills me... This movie was revolutionary in bringing forward the issues of mental illness. Great movie... Jack Nicholson's best.

2001 a Space Odyssey by Kubrick There isn't any such thing as a bad Stanley Kubrick movie but 2001 is his magnum opus. It is long and some guys think that it is a big boring movie but there is a level of genius behind it all that keeps the movie open to personal interpretation. 2001 is a life changing movie because it is as good as film making gets.
