Like I said, it looks better than most video game movies but I think that making the film look like a cross between "Se7en" and "Fight Club" might be overdoing it a little. I think that a kick ass movie along the lines of Ninja Assassin would work better: Brutal fights, crazy weapons, closer to the (albeit semi-retarded) source material.
And then in the end Lui Kang and Shao Kahn can use their ANIMALITIES AND TURN INTO CGI GODZILLA MONSTERS FOR A WHOLE THIRTY SECONDS to waste millions of dollars and do jack shit. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.

Making a Mortal Kombat movie a martial-arts film instead of an edgy realistic psycho-thriller doesn't make it a step backwards towards Mortal Kombat Annihilation dumbass.

New Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer... maybe? kinda? Fair warning, this trailer is pretty brutal so better consider it NSFW.
I guess it's following the previous two Batman movies in trying to get a more 'realistic edge'. Personally, if a new MK movie looked like NInja Assassin it'd rock harder. But, this already looks better than 99% of the shit videogame-to-movie adaptations like DOA and Street Fighter.

There's a new 2D mortal kombat game on the way too. There is not much gore in the video but the game play gets back to brass tacks. Theres a shitfest of classic characters like Sektor and Mileena so maybe it is a Mortal Kombat Trilogy high definition update like Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD.
The scene with the deformed baby was beyond acceptable in a movie. I am not a prude girl but that was just sick and wrong.
I understand where you are coming from but I think they wanted it for shock value and to explain his illness with visual aid, more effective.
Though I can be an anal bitch when it comes to continuity in making a film based off of anything, game, book, etc I actually dont mind, to much, this twisted take on the Mortal Kombat characters.
Ive seen that YouTube trailer and it is REAL!

"A third film is currently in the development stage with a tentative release date of 2010. After having read the script, Ed Boon has stated that the upcoming movie will be more of a reboot than a third sequel, as had been previously believed. Jeri Ryan revealed that the short was made for the director to pitch the reboot to Warner Brothers"
Obviously I dont see the film coming out this year but there is talk of a 2013 release. Guess it's a waiting game from here.
