That said, I'm not very fond of the idea that Kevin will only be directing the film, not writing it, 'cos that way, where's the guarantee that we'll get a proper follow-up to Rebirth and not, say, just another loose spin-off like Legacy? I mean, think about it: They need to fill at least half of the movie with adrenaline-filled, non-stop action, and I'm afraid that the 'give a new twist on the history of each of the kombatants' approach that Rebirth had going on will suffice.
Furthermore, according to Kevin T. himself, outside of being a promo video for the studios obviously, the original Rebirth trailer was nothing more than a prorogue to the film; so how do we know that, even in his original, untempered vision, he was planning to continue with the disturbing, creepy atmosphere and superb characterization and not just turn the rest of the film into a mindless action flick a-la those godawful Street Fighter or Tekken films?
*Sigh* You know what? The more I think about it, the more I start to worry that a genuine feature-length adaptation of Rebirth just simply won't work, 'cos all the important stuff like plot, characterization, atmosphere, etc. will simply be shoved aside in favor of having a 'freak fight' between Rasta 'Wolverine Claws' Baraka and Cyber 'Cryosuit' Sub-Zero...
Blimey, just this 'What do you think is gonna happen in Mortal Kombat 3?' discussion would make a great follow-up to the first episode of the podcast
