Like you didnt know that The Avengers was coming. Still, they couldn't keep Bruce Banner last actor?

You mean Edward Norton? He has a pretty steep pricetag, no doubt.

Arrrghhhh didn't prepare enough for the awesomeness of my once nerd-loved-only childhood heroes finally being brought together in the same room.

There go my bowels.

Thing is, I'm so used to the hulk never being the same guy that I'm not sure I mind. Let's blame it all on gamma rays.

So I just watched the aforementioned trailer and I've got to say that albeit there wasn't even a single hint on what the film's plot is going to be about other than 'The World is Going to Get Seriously Fucked and Loki Has Something To Do With It', I'm still going to go and see this movie for one reason. Want to know what that is, exactly? I'll tell you: Robert Downey Jr.

Seriously, after the massive train wreck that was Iron Man 2 (my own personal opinion, obviously), I was afraid that RDJ had lost it and that we'll never see the cocky yet lovable Tony Stark from the first film. For the first time in my life, I'm glad I was wrong. The way that Tony told Cap'n America to go fuck himself after the naïve, simple-minded jock tried to make fun out of him for not having any powers in the same way that Bruce Wayne would make Superman regret opening his rotten alien mouth was so gratifying, that I even stood up from my chair and applauded. I'm telling you folks, if there's one character Joss Whedon fully understands, it's Tony! ;)

Though I did not see Thor or Captain America, at the moment I do plan to see this. Its like what?! The first actually multiple super hero film (good one) ever made?! I kinda want it to be up there with the success that Avatar had ya know?! Just please god dont let this be in 3D!!!

I applauded as well. Iron Man isn't Iron Man without RDJr. And neither is Sherlock Holmes.

@*STAR*: Pshht, yeah right! A big project like 'The Avengers' not in 3D... Fuck me, there is absolutely no mentioning of 3D. Like, not on the poster, not in the Wiki, and, hell, not even on the official website!

Can it be..? But it's impossible... Or is it? Oh my god, yes! It happened! IT HAS HAPPENED! We've got ourselves another big-time film director who isn't afriad to show the studio executives where they can shove their dumb, stupidass 3D! I love you, Joss! I love you, man! :D

@vob: No kiddin'. The guy was, like, born to play Tony! ;)

It's funny, I knew nothing about RDJ before Iron Man. How apt that he got to play a character who basically WAS RDJ in the fictional world. I'm easily convinced he's the greatest actor of our time and pretty much everything he touches just shines. I mean, case in point- I saw Due Date, which is a really shitty stoner film with a really unfunny actor playing against Downey, but even with a pretty poor script he just owns the screen. Chaplin's another good example, not a very accurate description of the real Chaplin or his life, but Downey just becomes Chaplin like magic.

See, I'd actually argue Tony never changed for Iron Man 2, and consequently why it's one of my favourite super hero flicks- Tony basically 'redeems' himself at the end of the first movie, but by the second the power has totally gone to his head. His ego is even bigger than the last film and he thinks that he's god's gift to the world- so Nick fury comes in to basically say 'you're out of control, and while we want Iron Man to be a force for good, we don't know if we want it to be you behind the wheel.' Sadly it seems a lot of people missed that and assumed that just because Nick was on screen for longer than 5 seconds it meant it was only an avengers thing that no one could understand. But it fits so perfectly into the theme of the movie- legacy. Stark has to prove he's able to swallow his pride and work with a team, and he ends up losing his secretary in a petty argument, beating up his best friend and getting completely plastered (Tony drunk is probably the best scene for both its tie's with the comics and to show how ridiculous he's letting the whole thing get. And then we get a rock em sock em robots scene which is just brilliant.) So by the time he joins the avengers, he's basically become an entitled little shit. I think it's going to be awesome to see how IM2 Tony, who failed to ultimately impress Fury, gets treated on the team. I mean Cap's always been the leader, but it's obvious who'd rather have that posistion.

From what I've heard...the villains could be a slight, ever so slight, dissapointment. If any of you were expecting something realistic or magical, leave your expectations at the door, because I know it's neither. I don't know how people are going to respond to it...I know I feel mixed about it. But we really need an Ant Man film before we can have the real Avengers baddie, Ultron, take the stage. But for now it's going to be a case of...mistaken identity.

olololol long post
