It would probably be better to defend Christopher Nolan's vision of Batman and speculations as to where the third film might be heading rather than defend the decisions of every director in film history, Schumacher included.

@Dave: Hey, not a bad idea! Thanks, man. Now at least I know where to begin! ;)

I saw this trailer on the Quicktime website and it was okay but I don't get what Catwoman's beef is? She talks about the rich screwing over the poor so is she an Occupy Wallstreet nut?

@Alex_J: As much as I don't want to sound like a lonely virgin who has a quickie to the giant poster of Wonder Woman every night before he goes to sleep, but read the comics. At least in the modern incarnation of the character (that is, before the whole "New 52" malarkey) she is and always has been an urban Robin Hood of sorts, robbing pimps and mobsters and giving to the poor folks of East End (i.e., the absolute worst part of Gotham, for the uninitiated).

So yeah, despite her current social status (I doubt she'd have access to the same parties Bruce Wayne attends if she hadn't made her pile throughout the years), I can safely assume she's anti-rich. As for the whole "Catwoman" gig, again, my bet it's the same thing as in the comics — she gets "inspired" by Batman and decides to use the whole dress-up gig to her own advantage. That, and I reckon a high-class thief like herself could use stuff like a skin-tight bodysuit for flexibility, as well as all sorts of gadgets like night-vision goggles which, as already has been pointed out, also make her "cat ears" when pulled up.

That said, what puzzles me is why she decides to aid Batman in his battle for Gotham at the end of the movie, if rumors and photos from the set in Chicago are to be believed. After all, her crush on Batsy is pretty much inevitable, yes. Still, flirt is one thing, but getting yourself involved in something so serious and putting your life at risk? That's a whole different story.

@CineMax:
That's sort of the same angle from "Batman: Year One" right? Robbing the rich, but really keeping it for herself.

@LaughingMan: Pretty much, yes. Only in Miller's story she was also a prostitute; hence her distrust of men and the need to prove she's equal, if not even better than the "big boys." Of course, DC couldn't allow their characters to be half-bloods or simply of morally ambiguous origins, so the whole "whore" angle of Catwoman's character was later changed to her simply, well, acting like one — especially around Batman. Personally, I can't see how a woman of ignoble origins who's trying to make a name for herself is a thousand times worse than a woman of more or less decent ones but who's acting like a total slut, but then again, I'm not a brainless monkey like the heads of DC comics.

CRAP!!!!

Yesterday, Batman fans were falling over themselves to praise the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. There was plenty to like, but there was some agreement that the weakest aspect was trying to make out what Bane (Tom Hardy) was saying. The same complaint was lodged against the six-minute prologue, but it didn’t seem like it would be a big deal to fix the problem. Presumably, Christopher Nolan would hear the outcry, rework the ADR for Bane’s voice, and everyone would be happy. Unfortunately, THR is reporting that Nolan is pretty okay with the current sound mix. Sources at Warner Bros. say that the studio would like for Nolan to clarify the villain’s dialogue, but Nolan is using his independence “to alter the sound slightly, not to rework it completely.” Nolan voiced a similar opinion following the premiere of the six-minute prologue when he told THR “that it was OK for a moviegoer not to understand what was said at times, as long as the overall idea was conveyed.”

Um... Nolan... you DO understand that what they meant by "it was OK for a moviegoer not to understand what was said at times" is along the lines of deeper themes and all that, not if the sound quality for one of your main characters is absolute crap. I don't think the Joker would have been so scary had 2/3rds of his dialogue was muffled.
