I’ve still got it. Created 01/26/09.

Here is a pencil drawing I did of Heath Ledger’s ‘The Joker’ from The Dark Knight. I’m a huge Joker fan, and Heath Ledger’s final performance was one of the greatest portrayals of madness I’ve ever seen.

This was something I have wanted to attempt for a while. It’s been a while since I’ve attempted something so complex as this, so it was a good warmup to ‘get back into the groove’. It was a quickie, only about two hours on a plain sheet of paper and a No 2 lead pencil. Nothing really fancy at all like ‘artist pencils’ and stuff. The inspiration for this Joker drawing was pure boredom on a Saturday afternoon, then I downloaded a wallpaper of the Joker for my desktop PC and then started drawing.

Enjoy and feel free to comment on the drawing!

Thanks.

I just used a piece of paper and a No2 pencil. Nothing special at all.
The entire thing took about 2 hours to sketch and shade.

I never said I wasn't proud of the drawing or thought it wasn't special. I'm just humble about my talent.

... of course I was 'humble' enough to post the image all over this site like it was a fucking circus poster, but it's more of a "I think it's pretty good" kind of pride, rather than a "I'M TEH AWESOM3!!" vanity or the "...yeah, I guess it's OKAY..." low-esteem.

Plus I'm pulling a shitload of web traffic for searches on 'the Joker' and 'the dark knight'.

Thanks for the kudos, anyways 8-)

you draw a bunch of wavy lines, then run your eraser over them a little, then draw more wavy lines. Wash, rinse, repeat. Eventually you get decent 'texture'.

Nice work there laughing man, Hair is not as complicated as it seems if you know how to do it, and you have it down it seems.

Thanks Chuckysin, I didn't think I did a bad job considering I have more of a 'sketch' style than anything else. The hair was just sketch, sketch, sketch, and then erasing for light and contrast, then sketching more overtop of it.

Welcome to CCS.

we are our own worst critic when it comes to what we think of our own artwork. Believe me i know the feeling. I look at some of the sketches that I have and go man that sucks while people compliment it. Oh well, it's why we strive to be better right.

Thanks for the welcome.
