We know about the first film that was release in 2007, all the film critics and Ghost Rider fans hated it. I thought the film was ok. But it was not great. Anyways, I saw the trailer for the new Ghost Rider movie on YouTube. It looks pretty good. It's directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. The same guys who made Crank and Crank 2: High Voltage. I never saw the Crank movies. But I will try to watch them soon. I also found out David Goyer (the writer of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) wrote the script for this film. So, that's cool. Well, here's the trailer, if some of you didn't see it yet.

Seriously, though, yeah. The first one was a mediocre, forgettable Summer special effects schlock that had the potential to get me interested in the character of Johnny Cage (c'mon, selling your soul to the Devil to save someone you loved, only to get tricked and have to defeat Lucifer himself to set yourself and those who you love free — that's the kind of twisted, tragic stories I like), but didn't.

If there's one thing I liked, however, it was the spaghetti-Western motive they had going on (once again, c'mon, riding down the highway with 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' — awesome!) As for the sequel, couldn't care less.

-sigh-

Its no secret I'm not the biggest Nick Cage fan. The first film was horrible. yes the effects were nice, in fact the only time i enjoyed the movie was when he WAS Ghost Rider. But the story was blah, the fight scenes went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to fast!! They were anti-climatic and the ending was again just blah.

And now its what 4 years later?! God why dose it feel so much longer? Anyway, I dont really see myself falling in love with this movie, no matter who wrote or directed it and honestly the whole "pissing fire" towards the end was a bit of a turn off, i barely snickered at the gag of it.

By the way, who grinlit this shit, anyway? Just like STAR mentioned, the first film was by no means a hit (it did make something around Box $229 000 000, but the reviews and general reaction from the Ghost Rider fans was devastating); plus, it's been four years. I remember there being rumors about a sequel before the original even went into press, but after the reviews, it seems like nobody wanted to touch the franchise even with a fifty feet pole.

I also wouldn't get my hopes up about the Crank fellas, 'cos while you might've enjoyed their earlier works (I didn't; too much shaky cam and Jason Statham was being even a more shallow cut-out than ever), but keep in mind that those fuckers also wrote the script for Jonah Hex!

Blimey, I swear Hollywood is running out of ideas, and is more than ready to butcher any potentially good movie. I mean, first we get the news that Ridley Scott's ready to make a sequel to Blade Runner, now this... :x

It's probably the same people who greenlit the second Fantastic Four movie after the first one crashed and burned like a zeppelin. I didn't mind the first Ghost Rider movie all that much but it was just a fanwank and uninteresting outside of the special effects. Oh well maybe they're doing a sort of reboot like the Edward Norton Hulk movie after the first Hulk fell on his fat green face.

Nah... You see, that's the problem: They're not rebooting the first Ghost Rider movie (which is kind of a shame, mind, 'cos if Marvel did, then we might've seen Johnny Blaze as a part of the Avengers instead one of the lamer characters like Wasp or Ant-Man), they're making a genuine sequel. Also, I find it kind of absurd that the only thing everyone liked in the first film were the special effects, yet for the sequel (which is by default supposed to be bigger and better, remember?), they decide to cut down the budget in half.

In other words, the film isn't even on the race track yet, but the team has already deliberately incapacitated their one and only unit, don't you think?

*taking the devils advocate here*
This is the same thing I hear over and over about some of the Marvel movies. Back in the day I followed a LOT of the Marvel comics and aside from the x-men (and probably punisher, but I never got into that character) a lot of the movies have followed closely to the source material (the comic). Case in point was Daredevil. not a lot of people liked it but it followed the story, I would love to see a second one. Ghost rider too. It may have not been as good as movie as I would have liked but they do follow the source material. AT LEAST THEY ALL WERENT THE ABOMINATIONS THAT THE XMEN SERIES HAS BEEN (minus the new one, I have yet to see it)

who knows, they could be setting up a new FF4 (Hulk, Spiderman, Ghost rider, Wolverine) vs old FF4 (you know, Jessica Alba and those other guys) or any other variation of avengers vs or features *team/character name here*

I still dont know where this hate for Nic Cage has come from. He is not a douche bag like Tom Cruise nor is he that bad of actor like Ben Stiller or Will Ferril. At least he was not upstaged in his last role as an escapee from hell in like the last movie by William Fitchner (who is becoming one of my favorite actors).

I woudlnt call my feeligns for Nick, hate i do liek him in some movies (namely Face/Off and Con-Air and im sure another 1 or 2 I cant recall at the moment) I'm just not a big fan and I dont think hes an amazing actor, dont get me wrong god knows there are way WAY WAY worst actors/ actresses making buku bucks when they shouldnt even be allowed on set let alone in FRONT of the camera, but still hes just not my favorite.

Now Gary Oldman or Edward Norton THERE are two kick ass actors!!!
