Hey Onoe

In your review you have a music video for the Playstation 2 game. Do you know the name of that song? The intro of that song sounds catchy.

I had to research the Playstation 2 game Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Matsuri and download the album to find the name for you. It was a good thing because it is a very catchy song. It's called "Complex Image" by J-POP artist "Ayane". Look up her album "Archive Lovers".

The opening music did sound alright and the music fit the scenes of the game, but it's fuckin JPOP... have some standards, man!

This one Christmas my little brother got the Pokemon movie soundtrack (he was big into Pokemon when they came out) and he played that fucking CD ONCE and only ONCE because it was all bubblegumpop and JPOP. Absolutely horrible music for 7 year-old girls.

To use a tortured analogy, getting LaughingMan to like anything Japanese is like trying to make a brick wall talk to you. No matter how long you poke and prod it, begging it to do what you want, it'll never listen :P.

There's a lot about Japanese I like:
- Samurai movies
- Japanese girls
- Sushi
- Japanese girls
- Playstation and video game industry
- Japanese girls
- Nintendo
- Japanese girls
- Japanese horror
- Japanese girls

(On second thought, I think I like Latin women more than Asian girls...)

I just think they are a culture of perverts, I can't stand their fucking sense of humor, and most of their 'entertainment' (music, anime, etc) SUCKS. But that's just my not-so-humble opinion.

I'm also very 'eclectic' when it comes to music. I'll listen to anything from Mozart to Marilyn Manson, but I do not have a taste for Japanese pop music. To me it all sounds like a shitty Olson-twins sing-a-long album they released for children back in the early 90's.

There is some Jap-Metal I do want to sample though. Buck Tick being a band I want to hear more of because of their close affiliations with one of my favorite underground artists of all time, Raymond Watts (aka <PIG>).

@ONOE

What is that "When the Seagulls Cry" like? Is it anything like Higurashi because I might want to check it out.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni is very interesting so far. It has the same story arc format that Higurashi has, but it involves a family of 18 on an island getting murdered in a classical-mystery sort of way. Some people are found with their heads caved in, some are stabbed through the heads and hearts of family members, some have their stomachs exploded and stuffed with Halloween candy, and so on.

The mystery is whether or not the events occur because of human events, or if there is a witch living on the island. The tricky parts are the use of 'closed room' puzzles that make the murders seemingly supernatural in nature.

I did read on an anime forum that Studio Deen and the director really ruined a lot of the original CD Drama mystery though. But I never played the CD Dramas and only watched the anime series, and it wasn't bad, but Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a stronger anime series by far.

But, if you want some motivation to watch Umineko no Naku Koro ni, two of the characters from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni make special appearances. Sort of. :)
