Very basic notes so far for Kenny

Synopsis:

-Based on Lovecraft works
-Takes place in the town of Arkham, features Miskatonic University, and features other locales in the Lovecraft world.
-"The Arkham City is known as a center of power for both strong magic and high technology. The criminal syndicate Black Lodge led by the wizard, Telion, is moving to take control of the city, while the Hado Financial Group, the self proclaimed guardians of the city, are intent on stopping them. A private detective named Kuro Dijuhji finds himself caught up in the upcoming war and in control of the only weapon that can stop the Black Lodge – a giant robot called Demonbane." I had to rip this off of another website because I couldn't really understand the damn thing by watching it.

Bad:

-Mechas in a Lovecraft anime?!
-The Necronomicon manifested itself as jailbait?! The introduction of the Necronomicon as a serious character is its manifestation sticking its panties in his face. THIS IS ONE OF THE BOOKS CONTAINING ULTIMATE EVIL IN THE LOVECRAFTIAN WORLD?! THIS IS THE BOOK WRITTEN BY THE MAD ARAB THAT CAUSED INCOMPREHENSIBLE BEINGS TO DESTROY HIM WHEN HE FINISHED ITS COMPOSITION?! JAILBAIT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Not only this, but it goes chibi while in battle. We get an underage, purple-haired lolita wearing all white, and you're telling me that I am meant to see this as one of the ultimate evils of the Lovecraft universe? No, this I cannot do. This is just too unbearable as a Lovecraft fan to comprehend. I can't understand this logic, I refuse to understand this logic, and I will not obey this logic. This series is a piece of shit, and I refuse to watch anymore!... what do you mean I HAVE to see the rest of the series?! ... fuck me, man. This is only the first episode, and I don't want to torture myself with more. And guess what? Other grimoires, or black magic books, are used like this in Demonbane. Fuck my life.
- The only seeming connection to Lovecraft is the use of names, and names only. The Necronomicon is loli, it takes place in a modern Arkham and Miskatonic University, the episodes are titled either after short stories or sayings, but the whole premise is too outlandishly bad and Japanese to be related, in any way, to Lovecraft. You know what would have benefited a Lovecraft anime more? The presence of Yog-Sothoth, Cthulhu, the other Great Old Ones, or being set in the period with weird occurrences going on. Instead, we're treated to MECHAS. MECHAS?!
- This series doesn't allow for explanation: Why are the grimoire bad things, for instance? This would be explained for audiences who like Lovecraft, but all other audience members would be lost as to what the fuck a grimoire is. In the first episode, for another instance, who the fuck is Hadou Ruri, and WHY is she important enough for Kurou to kiss her ass all over the place in the beginning? What the hell is the Black Lodge? I mean Jesus, the audience isn't a bunch of clairvoyants!
- MECHAS?!
- Dr. West, of "Herbert West - Reanimator" fame, has been reduced to comic relief. What's more is that he is loud, annoying, and has a guitar as one of his weapons/items. Nothing true to his roots as a doctor who re-animates corpses, as you saw from my Christmas Lovecraft Holiday Special episode.
- They dress so weirdly that it makes me want to vomit, particularly the women where the trademark anime-huge-breasts pop out of the chest with no coverage except for black Lycra.
-Lovecraft source material = raped.
-This series doesn't get better, it just gets more confusing, and it's just unacceptable. The characters are annoying and flat, the story is uninspired, it strays so far from the source material that it has to explain where each name and reference came from at the end of each episode, and it's just lame when it comes to the battles; they are boring, drawn out, and touch on each and every bad stereotype found in most lousy animes (eg: undefeated robots are suddenly defeated by a new, mysterious hero robot piloted by an inexperienced newbie). BULLSHIT.

These notes will only get better as I watch more of this shit.

I'll start posting after you do.

Kinda feels like a dare: "I'll go if you go."
To us Lovecraft fans, reviewing this is a dare indeed.

If you read RITOS's reviews, they're usually negative (and funny) so I think that's what he's implying: he likes to read/write negative reviews.

Stellar job on the Avatar reviews you two! Excellent compare and contrasting views makes for great reading!
