But really, we've yet to see whether this is my best review yet or not. What I mean by that is, I'm waiting for two people's input. ONOE and Dave. ONOE 'cos the little rascal has been dying to read the final version for quite some time (plus, he's the site's main anime expert), and Dave 'cos... err. Well, it just so happens that he's always the one to pass the final verdict on my work, so yeah. A tradition is a tradition.

You make this anime sound like it's the Disney film that Disney never made. Where can I pick up a copy of this?

Don't know about Disney; however, if I were to draw a comparison between Time of Eve and a Western animated feature, I would most likely parallel it with The Iron Giant. Yeah, thematically speaking they're quite different. I mean, the former is about humans afraid that, one day, all that makes them human (i.e., quirks, emotions, love, compassion, sense of humor, etc.) will be easily artificially recreated by a machine simply by inputing the correct data, which, needless to say, renders all their uniqueness null, while the latter is more about the Cold War and stuff like that. That said, both movies explore the subject of human fears and biases from one point or another, so I suppose they're not THAT different. As for where you can find a copy of the movie, as far as I'm aware, the series/movie hasn't been officially released on any physical format. You could watch it online, though. It's only available on, like, every singe "Watch Anime" online type of website. Which reminds me... LaughingMan, don't forget to tell me what you thought of Time of Eve once you've seen it. Who knows? If you and the rest of the gang like it, I might actually make it somewhat of a tradition to write about obscure stuff (films, books, anime, etc.) you guys might enjoy instead of reviewing what's popular/what people expect me to review.

*Grumbles* Recommend them a movie, find them a torrent... Anyway, check your inbox. *Sigh* The things I do for the cultural development of you people...

I never realized that an obscure anime was required watching for the sophisticated. Nevermind the works of Ingmar Bergman, an anime about androids takes priority as required viewing for cultural development. But on the subject, another fine review with tongue in cheek humor. My only regret was that there was no definitive comparison between the six episode mini series and the movie. For example, would it be worth my time to watch all six episodes because there is a lot of material worth covering, or does the movie trim the fat and offer the same experience without the required time investment? Other than that I think that LM beat me to my own opinions in a previous post.

Oh, really? 'Cos I'm pretty sure I wrote something along the lines of: CineMax wrote: I... I'm afraid I'm in no position to judge the differences between the two versions since I went straight for the movie re-edition without bothering with the original series first. Even so, I then clarified: CineMax wrote: A little bit inconsiderate on my part, perhaps. However, I hear the two versions are practically identical, save for a few added extra scenes, so I promise not to punish myself too hard, okay? Plus, if you need an even more detailed response: Wikipedia wrote: A theatrical version, called Time of Eve: The Movie, premiered on March 6, 2010 at Ikebukuro Theater in Tokyo and Umeda Theater in Osaka. The theatrical release version features a new theme song called "I have a dream", composed by Yuki Kajiura and performed by the pop-group Kalafina. So there you have it. Time of Eve: The Movie = Original Series + A Couple of Extra Scenes + New Theme Song. Which version to go with is for you to decide.
