What are some of the best and worst television series that were based off of full length movies?

I only know that a lot of TV series based on movies end up pretty shitty.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and MASH are the first shows that come to mind, when I think of best. You could also mention a whole bunch of animated series from the 90s and personally, I preferred the television versions of Hercules and The Mask over the original films. Incidentally, Dumb and Dumber was probably the worst one of these.

Here's a full list of shows, though some (like Batman) are questionable: http://www.imdb.com/keyword/based-on-film/?title_type=tv

How could I have missed MASH? It's all my parents ever watch whenever I visit, and I totally spaced it.

Alright, my vote goes to MASH for being BETTER than the film it was based on.

Highlander wasnt bad and it helped make the 4th movie decent. Stargate I could never get into although every time I saw one it was alright. Le Femme Nikita was good too.

It looks like Push is coming out with a TV series. It has the potential to be good if done right.

Blade on SpikeTV wasn't too bad but it didn't have Wesley Snipes and the action was toned way down to make way for some stupid chick named Starr who has to deal with becoming a vampire and being a double-agent for Blade and the vampires.

The whole experience was like "There's Blade!" then 15 minutes of Starr's angst and self discovery then "There's Blade again!". It was like a Blade/Twilight crossover.

I don't know, I don't really know what to say about Buffy. It was okay, but the teen drama got to me after a while. However, don't grudge me because I think that Joss W. is just a bit overrated :P.
