It's been reported on several entertainment news sites and blogs that Sam Register, Executive VP of Creative Affairs for Warner Bros. Animation, announced at the MIP Junior conference ,the title of a new animated series that will once again put the spotlight on Batman. The title of the show will be Beware The Batman and will debut some time in the year 2013. The show will be CGI based much like Green Lantern The Animated Series and is said to feature Batman's loyal butler Alfred as well as a new female sidekick ninja named Katana. Here's the video of conference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXXCdpxL ... _embedded#! Here's article too. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2 ... k-in-2013/

Alright, I've already talked about this picture elsewhere yesterday, and seeing as everyone here is a huge Bat fan, I want you to take a good look at that picture.
Now I want you to point out the one fundamental thing in that picture that proves this show has utterly failed before it's even left the womb.

@korger: I'm sorry, but that shit is supposed to be the dark, worthy successor to Batman: The Animated Series and all those kick-ass direct-to-DVD animated Batman films that've come out in the last couple of years we were promised a couple of months ago? The fuck is wrong with Warner Brothers?! @B-mask: Admittedly, it's been stated numerous times in the comics that Alfred is the only member of the Batman Family that is allowed by Bruce to own a firearm, but still... The fuck is Alfred doing 'on the field'? He isn't supposed to be a wisecracking badass, but rather a loyal butler/friend/father figure who always covers and assists Bruce with gathering information, providing first aid, giving helpful advices, etc. Have these people ever read a single Batman comic in their life? You know what? Fuck that. Have these people even seen a single B:TAS episode in their lives? Also, the hell is up with that ninja chick? What, was Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, Helena Bertinelli, Cassandra Cain, or – a personal favorite of mine – Selina Kyle not good enough? Finally, Professor Pyg as the main villain? Fucking Professor Pyg?! I... I mean... You want to see how my face looks right now? Yup, just like that...

Oh, I know that Alfred was allowed to have a gun in the past- but that was because he was an old guy who needed some kind of form of self defence. I don't think that a gun toting maniac like the guy above was exactly what any incarnation of batman had in mind when they thought of vigilante justice!
I mean I just don't think Batman would ever be cool with that for OBVIOUS REASONS :V

@LaughingMan: You can just read 'I'm only in for the money' on his face, can't you? *Sigh* You know who I feel the most sorry for? Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Glen Murakami, etc. I mean, when those guys were working on Batman: The Animated Series, the only thing they cared about was doing justice to the original source material, as well as showing the rest of the world that Batman is much, much more than quirky one-lines and shark-repellent bat sprays. Sure, you wouldn't see Bats breaking someone's arm as a means of intimidation or the Joker slitting some poor bloke's throat due to the rating limitations, but just like Bruce Timm himself said, they weren't making a kids show, they were simply presenting the world their vision of Batman, while the kids just happen to fit into the targeted audience. In other words, no dumbing down just to appeal to the kiddies. Yet, look at Batman cartoons now: First, the godawful 2004 series with the long-haired, Kung-Fu fighting Joker; then the silver age-inspired 'Brave and the Bold' series; and now this insufferable crap... Ain't it ironic how the comic books and movie get more and more mature and gritty, while the cartoons, well, more cartoony?

Batman isn't who he used to be. But this has always been the case. The comics reflected a world of a dark and gritty nature only after years of campy goofball antics, and nary a throat slit. This kind of thing has been true ever since Adam West donned the cape and cowl with the likes of Cesar Romero and Burgess Meredith. Campy, kinda stupid, but kept the genre going for the next generation of bat fanatics. These young people now, will be the adults of tomorrow, and if they know at least OF Batman, there is a chance he and his ilk could survive. Undoubtedly the developers of the show at the highest levels are looking to cash in, but what about the devoted fans of Batman trying to make a product they can believe in too? Surely they see the good of having a new Batman, to keep the dream alive.
But young Alfred, with guns? That's just wrong.
