Exactly, plus buying stuff from Nintendo's old range is no different from buying anything from thier new range :V

If it's not a port, it's Mario galaxy 221, because it worked so well when the game was called Mario 64...

They have nothing to fear because the average profit for an Apple Store app developer is $200 per app. If Nintendo or another game maker were to invest in app development they would need to do it extremely quickly and very thrifty in order to generate enough profit to break even.

So why would anyone even want to develop app games if the profit margin is so low?

I don't know, the reasoning might be that since the app games are so ridiculously cheap and addictive, it might drag in so many customers that they aren't losing any money with this venture. I have seen significantly more people with Angry Birds on their iPhones than with a video game system like the 360 or PS3 in their homes, and I'm also willing to bet that the people who make app games don't lose money like the major console companies - every time a PS3 or 360 is made, Sony and Microsoft lose money since the systems are so expensive, so they have to earn back their cash with unimaginative bullshit that they know people will buy (ala Gears of War 3, God of War 3). This is probably also why EA is so butthurt over used games, and force gamers to buy online passes and thus make their clientele feel like criminals, because nobody is willing to by a $60 game if it's no good. Personally, I support app games and 'casual' games because it will drill it into those imbecile's heads that nobody wants to pay for an expensive game, and that nobody wants to buy a new piece of shit instead of a fantastic, if used, nugget. So even with the low margin of profit, that's far better than losing money every time a new console is made, and every time a new $60 'blockbuster' comes out.

Not everyone only makes $200 for an app, it's just the average because the app market is flooded, and probably 99/100 of the apps are "app-solute crap". For every Angry Birds that could make millions of dollars, there's probably 100 or 1000 apps that are terrible and no one buys them. Imagine getting straight A's in a class of 100 people, and all of the other 100 people have D or F averages. Your one A won't raise the class-average for shit.

But app development does have some use, especially for people trying to get their foot into the gaming industry. Good resume builders, I imagine.

PFFFF, I knew there was going to be a Halo 4. Reach was supposed to be the last game, but obviously Microsoft has plans after Bungie steps away, or Bungie knows that any other property they make won't be nearly as profitable as Halo. As for CoD: MW3, I find it equally as pathetic that they have to make another one to ensure profit. SSX is the only thing I'm excited about.
