While up until now CheshireCatStudios has been focused on written reviews, and though it will still be a main attraction here, we want to expand into the realm of video content and podcasts, and will be accepting applications to become featured on our site.
Since we are now dabbling in creating and promoting new video series on CheshireCatStudios.com, it is the conclusion of the CheshireCatStudios.com staff and the fans that we write up some general guidelines on exactly what we are looking for in Video and Podcast talent.
GUIDELINES ON HOW TO BE A CCS.COM FEATURED VIDEO OR PODCAST: (in no order)
• Your submission has to be viewable and hearable. We understand that not everyone can shell out thousands of dollars for equipment and software, and we’re not asking for Blu-Ray quality, but if we can’t see or hear what you made, we have no choice but to reject it.
• Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Period. If you undeniably and intentionally rip off an existing work, without making your content an acknowledged parody of that work, the content in will be rejected and/or removed, and repeated offenses can result in a permanent IP ban.
• Consider what sets your series apart from everyone else on YouTube (besides content). We are tired of the flood of every Tom, Dick, and Lucy making sub-par movie or game review videos. There are already hundreds of “angry nerds” and “critics” on the web, but we want to be a promoter of more original ideas and video series. If the ideas have been done a million times, or are unoriginal, we will most likely reject you. It won’t matter how technically superior your videos are to everybody else, you also need to have a great and original idea.
• While making review videos along the styles of “angry nerds” and “critics” can be an automatic strike against you, if it is a somewhat unique or if it is exceptionally entertaining we will still consider it based on member responses.
• There is a thin path of greatness that runs between “boring” and “annoying”. If you conduct your video lifelessly and monotone to the point where we would rather watch the ceiling fan than your never-ending drivel, we will tell you to try again. If you go the opposite extreme of being too over-the-top and ‘animated’, it is also unacceptable.
• Be entertaining, but DONT FORCE HUMOR. You will have better luck getting accepted if you are snarky and witty with your humor or if you do some visual comedy that isn't over the top and annoyingly gimmicky. If you use interchangeable jokes like The Nostalgia Critic or the show Family Guy, you probably won't get accepted. This includes annoying gimmicks, acting like a real-life Animaniac, shoving a weird joke on something that can’t be made funny, etc.
• If you want to drop an app for video content (or any other content) please say so at the beginning of the post. We would rather have traffic coming into the site rather than people coming in and saying "Look at my stuff over here!". That kind of crap can be considered spamming and it will get your links killed fast and could result in a possible IP Address ban if it is a repeated offense.
• If your video is NOT accepted, we are glad to provide you with CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms of your work. We’ll give you advice on how to improve, and we’ll help your series get better! If you take our words to heart we will happily allow you to re-try.
• If your videos are approved, we will require you to perform one of one of two things:
a. A prominent link to CheshireCatStudios.com somewhere your website – we will swap links with one another, thereby increasing traffic to both of our sites. b. Or, a credit placement at the end of your videos. It doesn’t have to be anything huge but it would be a nice gesture.
The reason why we ask for either of the above is so that it basically creates a win-win situation where we both build referrals to our works.
One thing to understand when submitting your video for approval is this: WE ARE THE TOUGHEST CRITICS YOU'LL EVER FACE. We have trolls, opinionated asses, and all manner of ill-mannered viewers on this site (site creators included). However, we do try to make our criticisms CONSTRUCTIVE, regardless of how blatant they may be. If you want feedback on your videos, we can be brutally honest and give a few pointers, that is no problem. We are tough critics and we are picky about what we endorse, but by running our gauntlet you'll have a stronger video series.
We hope to see what you come up with.

I guess there will be a lot of confusion about what we would classify as 'funny' in a video series but not 'annoying', so instead of trying to tell you what I (as in me, personally) would be looking for in a video, I would just show you a few videos of one of my favorite television personalities: Craig Ferguson from the Late Late Show on CBS.
And the infamous 'bunny'
The guy is hilarious, loopy, and really an odd character but his humor is still contained and to the point. Listen to how his voice fluctuates and never goes monotone, and he conveys so much energy into what he's saying. And everything really 'flows' naturally. He admittedly has his own running gags, but after watching him for 2 years nothing was ever DRILLED into my head (like Big Lipped Alligator Moment....)
I know that Zimes and a few of the other decision makers (major contributors) have their own favorite brand of humor, and I hope they post a few examples of legitimately FUNNY humor so that any new applicants can get an accurate idea of what we would be looking for, instead of just shooting in the dark.

I love the parody on MTV Cribz, and the overall channel, that the Gorillaz did in this episode. Imagine somebody taking the piss out of you while they are on your show... literally, in some instances. I like the random, snarky humor from Murdoc here.

i know some of you have said your disapproval opinions of this show but i like family guys sense of humor and when done sensibly i dont mind running gags either honestly
...you all are gonna come after me with torches and pitchforks now arent you?! (lol)
The series is dedicated to analyzing and eviscerating tasteless low-budged B-grade knock-offs of more popular and expensive Hollywood flicks - Mockbusters. CineMax is an amateur, yet aspiring movie critic, who makes comedic video reviews, writes insightful and analytical articles, and, occasionally just blabbers about stuff he deems important.

If you use a joke where you have to break your train of thought to show dancing monkeys or something really out there like that, then yes, you have a 10 second head start. And it started 15 seconds ago.
