I doubt that they'd let Ricky Gervais host the Academy Awards with all of the controversy surrounding his last performance. But you have to admit, it was great watching Ricky tear down the Hollywood elite.

Yeah, I thought Ricky Gervais did an excellent job at the Golden Globes, but the Oscar people don't want to risk it.
There was actually a campaign to let the Muppets host the Oscars, but the producers went with Billy Crystal. They've also cancelled the performance of "Man or Muppet" on the show, which leads me to believe that Brian Grazer must really hate Muppets or something.
