    Read it and weep: http://www.dailydot.com/geek/steven-universe-fanartist-bullied-controversy/

These “fans” even went after Steven Universe’s creator/production crew for their statements related to the controversy.

While fandoms aren’t inherently bad, you will always get a rabid/insane faction that will try to ruin your enjoyment of a said tv show/movie/video game/comic etc.

Probably one of the reasons why I don’t interact with other people online that much or never became part of an online fan community. (I’m more of a lurker)

FunFact: CCS is the only online forum/community that I have joined. Ever. Why? I think the site speaks for itself.

On a side note, its seems like the only two things Tumblr is good for is art and porn.

PS: Not a SU fan. Only seen one episode (Jail Break) and I think it is an show with unique characters and good messages. Garnet seems hella badass.

Also, last time I checked (I could be mistaken): Steven Universe is A FICTIONAL SHOW featuring FICTIONAL CHARACTERS aimed AT YOUNG CHILDREN.

I seen a ton about it on Twitter. There’s still some SJWs that are defending their harassment of the poor artist, saying her feelings are not as important as the minorities she hurt with her art work. I pray to the God Emperor of Mankind that they are only trolls, but considering how big the hate machine built to bully her was, I know it wasn’t all just the doing of trolls. I’m glad you avoid fan-dumbs. It seems like knee advice for this day & age. I didn’t let obnoxious bronies & trolls using pony memes ruin my love of MLP, but if the brony community did something like this, I’m not sure I would be able to watch another ep of it. I hear people talk about SU like these radical fans have completely missed the meaning of the show, & I wonder how does a fandom whose show promotes tolerance & acceptance become so toxic? My only guess is that Tumblr is a cesspool of toxic idiots, & it’s only good use is porn & art work… pornographic art work that is. ^-^ Lol

Not surprised that stuff like this happens. Anyone remembers the news of a little girl, who was 7 years old, almost committing suicide because some bullies abuse her for liking the new MLP show and yet, all the comments on the Internet about the article are either “Well, she got what she deserved” or worst, “she needed to be bullied and learn a lesson in joining the MLP club because of love and tolerance!”.

News like this are a reason why not a lot of people watch shows like Steven Universe, Wander Over Yonder or Regular Show because they like to take these shows, preach them as the “END ALL OF CARTOONS” and abuse anyone that does fan art or fan projects of their favorite shows. So much for “why can’t we get along?” crap huh?

True that. I never understood that. I don’t like those type of shows because, in my opinion; the designs and humor are very similar with each other and it’s a cheap way to do animation; but not to the extent of demanding heads of the people who like it. And it’s even worse when people are endorsing serious bullying to others just because of their tastes. at the extent of their suicide.

    It’s just sick, truly.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on the forums, log in for the first time in for the first time in a while and see this.

    Oh boy here we go.

I actually came across the article a few days back and am still extremely disgusted by it. Though I know there are much worse things that have happened in fandoms [take the Waukesha victim for example] this is still a very terrifying example of how people can turn on each other.

I’m currently in the Steven Universe fandom and have seen the Fandom split down the middle after these events. It’s scary to see how people act towards this girl even after she was put through all of this, and even still criticize her on Fat-shaming Rose Quarts.

Well there’s my two cents on this issue. Hopefully I can one day put what I’m thinking into coherate sentences. Ugh.

Despite being similar, the shows are very different from each other and overall, all of them are great shows in their own way but these fans like to shove some kind of agenda and proclaim war on those who either hate it or just make simple fan videos. So yeah, it is sick. That’s why I stay away from fandoms.

I had to learn the hard way. I used to be the hardcore Halo fan until Halo 4 came out when I stated that there features of the game which I didn’t particularly like and instead of trying to find someone like-minded or have an open discussion on what could or should be fixed, I was received like a heretic. People were throwing stones and launching the old:

“Hurr durr, you’re not a true fan of the series!”
“Hurr durr, you must be a CoDbot!”
“Hurr durr, you secretly love PlayStation, you fag!”
“Hurr durr, you’re not a real gamer”.
“Hurr durr, you’re a disgrace to the community!”

(And I’m not kidding, those are real examples of insults I got.)
Things of course didn’t go better after the release of Halo 5, which I didn’t like at all; but since then I try to stay away from fandoms. That’s the problem with them, there’s no middle ground, nothing but “heretics” and “boot-lickers”.

Well in my experience its best to find level headed people who are fans of said show, sport, or other entertainment. And while that is not going to be easy and trust me I seen and dealt with some knuckleheads you can find out the real rebel rousers are a minority but they have louder voices then the sane ones. But hey I could be wrong and in that case if the majority of the people in the fandom are toxic then it’s best to leave then.

    Just my 2 cents
