Okay so here is a thread where we can post random ideas for video games we would like to see so that one of us or a big gaming company can steal it and make it happen. For Example: A better version of the Deadpool video game.
Oh, there was a big panel at PAX South that covered gaming ideas! I’ll throw a few that were mentioned out here along with ideas of my own. ;D
Top-Half Fish: A merman (top half is fish, bottom half is man) runs around completing quests in order to regain his original form (tom half man, bottom half fish). Upon completion, he’s rewarded an item that changes his lower half. So, he could go from man-body and fish-head to giraffe-body and fish-head. An insane RPG platformer that has a series of creatures for you to half-transform into before returning to your true form!
A horror game where the microphone is activated on your PC. The monster or being chasing after you will find you more easily if you’re breathing heavily or talking. Multiplayer would involve friends working together to lure the monster away from certain members, and if you’re doing single player while at a friend’s house, your friend could ruin everything by screaming “SHE’S OVER HERE, FUCKFACE”.

I think there should be a CCS game.

Oh boy. For years (since I read the manga, all you baka gaijins), I’ve had this great vision of an MMO Attack On Titan game. One with an entirely self-sufficient economy, and perma-death. You start as a person of your own design, and you have to go through training for a while (might repel some people, but you gotta learn how to fight bruh) before choosing which regiment to join. Obviously, everyone wants to join the Scout Regiment, so there’d have to be a threshold in place that prevents you from joining if there are too many people (which would not last long, cuz dis game would be BRUTAL) and will send you a message when space is available. But you learn secrets and gather items to sell, and you have the choice of not becoming a soldier at all. You could be a merchant or a palace guard, or an engineer. The longer a character has survived and the more money he’s made/titans he’s killed, the further in they can choose to move. So you could have snobs who were once great fighters now chilling in the economy-centric central wall. Not much fighting, but lots of building and selling stuff. You could also have veterans who have killed over a hundred titans with their character that remain to fight with the Scout regiment. Of course, the issue of ‘titan-transforming’ comes up. That’s easy to solve, as you just program a randomization algorithm that selects a random new character to have Titan abilities. I’m thinking that would be a DLC, though. Like for the first few months, it’s just people building economy and fighting off Titans, and then an update comes out that destroys wall Maria. This forces everyone to flee inwards, and soldiers to fight harder than they ever had before. Lots of people will die in the process.
Anyways, I practically have a manifesto written about this, but thats just some random bits I decided to throw out ATM. Quite ambitious and I don’t have the programming ability to make it a reality, but hey. It’s cool just to talk about the idea. 🙂

Though techniquely not my video game idea, this is exciting nonetheless
Zimes and I sort of started CCS working on an RPG game, with his combat system and my story. I wish I could tell you more, but I’m turning the game story into a book at the moment 😉
@laughingman: GET HYPE
@Jakob Morris: That looks so cool! I’ve never heard of Ultima or any of the games by Looking Glass, but I’ll have to check out their games along with the Kickstarter. 8D

Ive been in love with the saints row series lately and im looking forward to their next game. Super heroes, Hell, cant wait to see what they come up with next. Maybe theyll go fantasy rpg and take jabs at games like Fable, Final Fantasy, and Elder Scrolls. Or maybe theyll go back to gangsters but in prohibition america. Get Hype.
The game where you’re an evil, powerful guy trying to take over the world. RPG/Sim mix.
You start by choosing what is your main strength. Are you an unstoppable juggernaut? A powerful warlock? A talented alchemist? Master of the beasts? Or simply a genius of manipulation and trade?
Then you choose where is your “lair”. The further it is from cities, the harder it is for the “heroes” to stumble upon it. And it draws less attention. But it’s also harder to find minions or get supplies. Some monsters, natural disasters and other power-hungry individuals can pick on you easier as well.
As the time passes and your power grows, you can pick another “specialisation”. You are a guy who took beasts as his primary focus and now chooses magic? Well, here are your enhanced, enchanted monsters. Was that another way around? Take that army of demons, elementals and other mystical creatures. Were you a warrior and now you took up tinkering? Just look at that powerful suit of armour and unbelievable weapons of destruction that improve your performance. You were a master manipulator and decided to choose magic? We shall now call you a Mindmaster. And so on, and so on.
Of course, in the meantime you have to keep your lair safe, supplied and secret. Sometimes you have to relocate, defend or expand it. And all the time you have to come up with vile plans of how to take the power in the region and then keep it. From that point it goes more into a strategy game, where you fight other countries and factions in order to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!! Muahahaha!
I’d play this so hard…
I think you might enjoy these games panda
Oh, I did. I played first part as a wee kid and completed the second. Not many such games around though. There was Impire and Dungeons, but both well… not really worth the offort in my opinion.
If you know any others though, (beside Overlord or… I dunno… Ghost Master?) feel free to share the titles.
And on topic of the games we’d like to see:
OnePunch-Man – the Game. That would be interesting to see.
So if you like survival horror you may be intrigued by this kickstarter
If I were to make a game, it would be a fighting game but here’s the kicker: It would be a fighting game with all of your favorite cartoon characters (both old and new) beating the shit out of each other. It’s Smash Bros. with cartoons instead and I would call it “Toon Wars” (the title sounds catchy). In this game, I would include:
A huge roster of over 68 fighters from different cartoons in TV and film including Aladdin, Wander Over Yonder, Regular Show, Samurai Jack, Swat Katz, Ben 10, Powerpuff Girls, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Beauty and the Beast (who doesn’t wanna play as Beast or Gaston?), Adventure Time, Steven Universe, TMNT, Johnny Bravo, Courage the Cowardly Dog and so forth while obviously adding stages based on the cartoons but with a twist: The background characters may come to life and wreck chaos on the stage with a very simple yet fun to master fighting system that mixes the battle system of Smash Bros. with MARVEL VS CAPCOM.
A campaign mode for up to 6 players (both offline and online) with the cartoon heroes going on an epic quest to save their worlds from evil type story but with interactions with different characters by using a very witty script that uses fourth wall and META humor all together with a fun fast combat system with decent platform sections and having the chance to fight your favorite villains in crazy boss fights like Aku, Amon, Gaston, Frollo, Maleficent, Scar, Pete, The Shadowman and more.
A very deep and fun customization modes including the ability to create stages by messing with the terrain, mixing different colors and palettes for the look of the stage, adding traps on the stage and adding a music theme to the stage. As for the other customization mode, it would be called “Create a Toon” and this mode will allow you to not only create your toon but to go extremely crazy with it’s customization options like having the ability to change the look of the eyes, hair, ears and mouth to either a more american or anime look to allow yourself to modify the face at your own desire. It would also allow yourself to make your toon into just a boring looking human or you can make him look like a werewolf, reptile, tiger or a lot of different skins to give the character a very cool unique look with thousands of different customization clothes right from the get-go and you can also modify the look and feel of your weapons by adding color, tattoos, editing the weight and size of the blade, you name it and after that is finished, you can make your own fighting style for your character or fuse two different fighting styles.
I would also add a “Treasure Vault” mode where the player can see the things he unlocked by playing hours into the game including concept art, music, movies and even unlocking episodes (including rare episodes never released on TV) of your favorite cartoons.
So… Do you guys think this idea is a huge seller?
"The world is merciless and it's also very beautiful."
If I had to give my best idea for a videogame, it would have to be a survival horror game:
1.-Dracula’s Castle (Generic name due to me not coming up with a name yet)
You’re a detective in Victorian London, and your wife has been kidnapped. Years pass searching for her, but so far nothing. Suddenly, you dream that she’s in Transylvania. You travel there and find the abandoned castle of Dracula, which is suddenly populated by monsters (Werewolves, skeletons, zombies, mermen, vampires, mummies, gargoyles, etc.) and it turns out Dracula wants to turn your wife into his next bride and you have to stop him. I know, it’s like a dark version of Castlevania. I want it to be a difficult survival horror where each monster requires a specific weapon to kill it, and to access through the castle, you must solve complicated riddles and puzzles. A darkened mix of Resident Evil with Castlevania, I’d say.
I’ve even thought of different bosses for the game! A giant spider/scorpion monster, an acid spitting sea creature that travels through the castle’s sewers, a giant carnivore plant, an evil Dr. Frankenstein, the Frankenstein monster, a suit of armor which is the guardian of Dracula, a bride of dracula and I thought for Dracula to have different phases. In one he’s hovering and launching spikes at you, in other he’s just a shadow which rises spikes from the ground and I thought for him to end as a giant bat with a big battle at the top of the castle.
I also want to implement a sort of RPG-ish system for finding different materials and crafting them to make the weapons to kill the different monsters (Zombies need a gun to shot them in the head, werewolfs require silver bullets, mermen can only be killed with a crossbow to their bellies; sort of a weak spot I came up with, mummies need ankh’s to weaken them, gargoyles need a lantern that projects sunlight to freeze them, skeletons need a special potion to weaken them, etc.). As you progress through the game, finding ammo and materials will be more difficult. You’ll also require different items that can protect you from certain enemies (Garlic can repel vampires for a time, a special lantern can keep gargoyles frozen, a special ankh can keep the mummies from waking up)
I was also thinking of Dracula’s castle to be divided in different sections, each with their own creepy tone and creatures:
Transylvanian forest: Wolves and other animals.
Graveyard of the castle: Living plants, gargoyles and werewolves.
Main hall: suits of armor, vampires and zombies
Castle sewers and lake: Mermen, big spiders and leech-like monsters.
Castle’s crypts: Mummies, skeletons, zombies and vampires.
Top of the castle: Gargoyles, suits of armor and living vitrals (reference to Dark Castle)
Frankenstein’s lab: Mutants and mecha-zombies
So if I had to give a more detailed story, this is what I have so far:
Your name is *insert generic British name*. After helping solve the Jack the Ripper murders, you’re informed your wife has been kidnapped by an unknown assailant. Years pass through and nothing. One day, you dream you’re in a forest (part of the game) and you find your wife hold in an enormous castle in the middle of nowhere. After that, you determine it’s an abandoned castle in Transylvania and you decide to go see if the dream was true. After arriving, the townspeople warn you to stay away but as always *cliche time* you ignore them and venture deep in. One of the villagers gives you a “manual” which shows you what monsters to expect and how to kill them. After that, you go to the forest and find the abandoned castle in your dreams. You discover that it’s infested with different types of monsters created by the legendary Dracula. After you go inside, solving puzzles and going through the castle you finally find eye to eye with Dracula. He explains to you that Dr. Frankenstein was able to bring his creature back to life by making a pact to resurrect Dracula; who in return would help him with his experiment. Betraying and enslaving the doctor, Dracula plans to relinquish the human race off the planet and send hordes of monsters throughout the world. As for your wife, it turns out she’s the last living descendant of the Van Helsing family, which killed Dracula in the first place. After learning of her, he’s captured her and plans to turn her into his next bride to ensure no one will be able to stop him. So ultimate battle with Dracula, he gets killed, the monsters vanish and everyone lived happily ever after… OR DO THEY?!
Yes, I’m aware there’s a few tweaks I need to adjust and write a more solid story, but this is what I have so far.
