Nostalgic Game Remakes & HD Game Remasters

LaughingMan, CineMax and The Fuboo discuss the merit of nostalgic game remakes (e.g., DuckTales Remastered, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, Double Dragon Neon) and speculate whether such high-definition remasters can be considered a way of preserving classic games that would otherwise be inaccessible (e.g., The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition), or if they’re blatant cash grabs from companies that lack imagination. And of those remakes, why are some successful and not others? Why are some video game remakes panned for outdated gameplay while some are praised for remaining close to the original? It’s a hypocritical quandary -especially when compared to the movie industry- that was one of our toughest debates.
